J Boats Together With RMYC Promote Green Boating In India

on

Earlier this year, members of RMYC created CLUB J/80 and put on a show with the Indian Coast Guard Service and the Tamilnadu Marine Police during the Chennai Waterfront Festival.  The messaging was- to promote sailing as an “eco-friendly, green boating activity”. Each of the J/80s participating took up to ten people aboard, including family and friends.  There were thousands lined up on the marina beach to enjoy the spectacular J/80s sailing back and forth on 16th Jan 2014. The RMYC members pride themselves in being an active, inclusive and family-friendly Sailing Club, working together to encourage participation in the sport— old or young, experienced or novice they welcome all those whose aim is to have “fun” on the waters.

There are over 1,600 J/80s sailing in 30 fleets in 12 countries, with large J/80 fleets existing in North America, Europe and China. The J/80 Class and its builders have provided J/80s for women’s and men’s regattas for over 20 years. The J/80 has been used actively in match racing as well; including the BMW Berlin Match Race in Berlin, Germany; the World Match Race Sailing Association event in Le Havre, France; and the China Cup Match Race in Xiamen, China. If you’re looking for a great class to get involved in, look no further than the International J/80. Sailing World magazine rated J/80 as easier to handle, less intimidating, safer and better suited for sailing offshore than other modern sport boats tested. J/80 is the only sportboat that combines simplicity of operation, confidence building stability and 15+ knot spinnaker rides in an affordable, low maintenance and trailerable package. It even has 4 berths and a 12 foot long cockpit.

J/80 is the only sportboat that combines simplicity of operation, confidence building stability and 15+ knot spinnaker rides in an affordable, low maintenance and trailerable package. It even has 4 berths and a 12 foot long cockpit. The 1,440 lb. lead keel with bulb on the J/80 weighs nearly the same as the leading competitor’s entire boat. No question, stability is the most important standard when it comes to a forgiving design, family sailing! For more information on J Boats in India contact Sunil Lobo on +91 9820032699.
